Wei Ling Chang is a big fan of film noir and horror films. When she’s not daydreaming or fantasizing about convoluted mystery murder plots, she writes, directs and produces television shows. She’s worked on everything from serious documentaries such as the Emmy-nominated “The Port Chicago Mutiny”, “Hope, Charisma, and Controversy: the Bill Clinton Biography”, A&E’s investigative homicide series “The First 48”, to fun stuff like MTV‘s “Made” and “My Super Sweet Sixteen”.
This year, her supernatural horror script, “The Chim” (director, co-writer), was selected to participate in the Narrative Section of Tribeca Film Festival’s All Access. In July, she edited the short, “Goodnight Mr. Lee”. The film won best editing in Asian Cinevision’s 72 Hour Film Shootout Competition and screened at the Asian American International Film Festival. In 2002, her first screenplay, “The Deep of the Mind”, was a semi-finalist of Sundance Writer’s Lab and Chesterfield Writer’s Film Project (sponsored by Paramount Pictures).
Holding a psychology degree from Cornell University, Wei Ling believes that the road to psychological well-being takes three weekly trips to the swimming pool, a pack of cigarettes, and making creepy movies.
